It's thanks to community support we've been able to purchase a number of pieces of equipment that enhance firefighter safety, enable us to act more effectively and directly enhance our ability to provide fire protection. We rely on community donations to make this happen and always have new projects we are working on.
Thanks to generous donations from Holcim and the Bungendore Community Bank the brigade was able to purchase two powered hose reels. They are possibly the most loved bit of equipment in the station, dramatically reducing firefighter fatigue and risk of injury. These reels allow us to quickly relocate without needing to manually wind over 50m of heavy plastic hose.
Again the Bungendore Community Bank made a generous donation to the Brigade to get us over the line on purchasing a custom catering trailer. This has allowed us to feed our people on the fireground, drastically reduced the time spent travelling for meals whilst at incidents - assisting both firefighting efforts and morale!!
The Brigade funds a program to allow members to replace the standard service issued helmets with Kevlar Bushrangers from Pacific Helmets. These are not only much more comfortable for extended use but feature three point harnesses, a heat resistant visor, mounted smoke goggles and torch brackets. These features significantly enhance firefighter safety and comfort.
