The Lake George Local Emergency Management Committee (which incorporates Queanbeyan City Council and Palerang Local Government Areas) wishes to invite residents of the following areas for information sessions on emergency preparedness, but in particular, preparing ones home and family for bushfire. We will also be addressing general emergency preparedness, the Local Emergency management Committee, Storm preparedness.

Queanbeyan residents:
16 October 2014  7pm to 9pm at RB Centre - Crawford street Queanbeyan - opposite QCC Chambers.

Bungendore
21 October 2014 - Council Chambers 10 Majura street Bungendore

Braidwood
6 November 2014 Council chambers park lane, behind 144 Wallace Street Braidwood.

Members of the emergency services such as RFS, NSW Police Force, Fire and Rescue NSW, State Emergency Service of NSW, the Local Emergency Controller and other members of the committee will also be in attendance to answer any questions you may have.

It is highly recommended that all residents from these areas attend to obtain information and ask questions, especially considering the bushfire season is already upon us.
It is imperative that communities in our area prepare themselves well and know what to do in case of bushfire and emergencies in general. We will also provide additional information that you can peruse in your own time and advice on emergency kits to keep your family safe.

Do not leave your preparations to the last minute or when you can see smoke because it will be too late. You will put yourself, your family and emergency personnel at risk.

Planning to make a plan in case of emergency is NOT a plan, so do something for yourself, your family and community and come along.

Areas of higher risk of bushfire  in and around Queanbeyan are those of the Ridgeway, Wamboin - North of Kowen Forrest, South of Jerrabomberra Hill, Greenleigh, Wanna Wanna Road area, Karabar East & south, Wickerslack Lane area, Fernleigh Estate area, Weetalabah, Powell Drive area, Carwoola area, Bombay, Tralee, Mongarlowe, Nerriga, Googong, Bywong, Burra, Royalla, Mulloon, Araluen, Jinden, Jingera, Anembo, Captains Flat, Uriala, Rossi, Butmaroo, Togganoggera,  Gundillion, Farringdon, Charleys Forest Road, Sandy Creek - just to name a few.
