There are now only nine weekends left until the start of the Bushfire Danger Period on October 1! (pending a weather related early start).

This means there is limited time to plan and conduct pile burns, hazard reductions and bonfires without needing a permit from the NSW RFS.

Every year we see escaped burns that are poorly planned for on the last days before the season starts and are squeezed in regardless of the conditions.

Don't be that person on the last day with an escaped burn!

If you need to burn you still notify the service and your neighbours but don't require a permit. You need appropriate extinguishment resources (water, pumps etc) and people on hand.

For all the information on burning and permit requirements see http://bit.ly/BRFSPermit for local information or http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/BFDP
